Summer love for your Hair:
Protect your Hair Extensions against Sunscreen, Chlorine Water and Beach

Through: RANA HAIROwner

HIreland in Belgium is currently waiting for the summer sun to shine brightly in the sky, but if you are still going on holiday it is a wonderful time to enjoy long days on the beach, refreshing dips in the pool and relaxing moments in the Sun. But before you immerse yourself in the summer fun, we'd like to inform you about an important issue: protecting your beloved hair extensions.

Hair extensions are a fantastic way to transform your hairstyle and boost your confidence. However, just like your natural hair, hair extensions are also susceptible to damage from exposure to the summer elements, especially sunscreen, chlorinated water and salt water, such as on the beach.

Sunscreen and your Hair Extensions
While we find sunscreen essential to protect our skin from the sun's harmful rays, it can be disastrous for your hair extensions. The ingredients in sunscreen can build up in your extensions and lead to a dull, unattractive appearance. It can also cause an orange discoloration. To prevent this, we recommend putting your hair up first before applying sunscreen. If you have already applied sunscreen, wash your hands thoroughly after applying sunscreen and then touch your extensions. Don't let your hair hang loose on your oiled skin, put it up in a high bun, or make a braid and twist it into a nice low bun.

Chlorinated Water and Your Hair Extensions
The cooling effect of a dip in the pool is irresistible during hot summer days, but the chlorine-rich water can act as an aggressive enemy for your hair extensions. Chlorine can dry out hair and make it brittle. To protect your extensions, it is a good idea to wet your hair with plain water and apply the RANA Majestic Mask before entering the pool. This makes it less likely that your hair will absorb the chlorine. It is of course best not to go under water with your hair extensions. Wearing a swimming cap can also be a smart choice!

The Sea and your Hair Extensions
A day at the seaside can be a wonderful way to enjoy summer, but the salt water can be an insidious threat to your extensions. The salt can strip the moisture from your hair and dry it out. It is advisable to rinse your hair thoroughly with clean (tap) water after each dive to remove the salt. Then you bring it RANA Majestic Mask and tie your hair.
After your wonderful beach day, take care of the hair extensions with it 3-step plan from RANA Hair Care.

How do you protect your Hair Extensions?
In addition to taking precautions against exposure to sunscreen, chlorinated water, and salt water, here are some tips to protect your hair extensions during the summer:

  • Avoid excessive heat: Limit the use of hair straighteners, curling irons and hair dryers so as not to unnecessarily damage your hair extensions. NEVER set it higher than 180 degrees! And always use professional tools!
  • Braid your hair: Before swimming, braid and twist your hair to reduce tangles and provide protection from the elements.
  • Leave in conditioner: Use a leave-in conditioner (KM Untangled) or a special hair extension oil (KM Young Again) to keep your extensions hydrated.
  • Sun protection: Wear a hat or scarf to protect your hair and extensions from direct sunlight.
  • Regular care: Give your hair extensions the loving care they deserve with the RANA Hair Care products that are specially designed and formulated for hair extensions.

With these tips and precautions you can enjoy your hair extensions and the summer without any worries. Let your hair shine and enjoy the summer days to the fullest!
